Mission Talati Test 7: Panchayati Raj

The 73rd Constitutional Amendment, 1992 added Part-9 "Panchayat" to the Constitution of India.  The Act was approved by the President on April, 1993 and passed on April 24, 1993, stating that the Act should be implemented in every State within a year.  The 73rd Constitutional Amendment added Schedule-11 to the Constitution of India, adding Articles 243 to 243 (0) to Part-9.  As soon as this act was implemented, a total of 29 subjects pertaining to Panchayat were added.  Amendments to the Gram Panchayat were made in Article 40 of the guiding principles of Part-4 politics in the Constitution of India.  Article 40 provides that the State shall take steps to form Gram Panchayats and give them the necessary powers and authority to act as a unit of Swarajya.

Part-9 (A) "Nagarpalika" was added to the Constitution of India by the 74th Constitutional Amendment Act.  The Act was enacted on June 1, 1993 with the approval of the President in 1992.  Schedule 12 was added to the Constitution of India by the 74th Amendment, paragraphs 243 (P) to 243 (2G) were added to Part-9 (A).
